RMC is a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer that is strongly associated with sickle cell trait. The disease disproportionately affects young people and is often diagnosed at an advanced stage.

The documentary was inspired by Wander’s daughter, Rekita M. Powell, whose life and battle with RMC became the foundation for Wander’s continued advocacy.
